Principal Nuclear Materials Engineer

Job Description

Advise engineering teams on neutron radiation effects on materials used in the radiation shield vault, including modeling material-property changes, assessing system-level risks, and overseeing testing campaigns. Lead strategic capability-building projects, review and summarize technical literature, and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, national laboratories, and universities.

Requirements: Requires a relevant degree or equivalent professional understanding of radiation effects on materials, typically demonstrated by 15 or more years of hands-on experience, including 15 or more years handling radioactive material. Also requires at least eight years of experience with non-aqueous corrosion and environmentally assisted degradation, neutron interactions, and coding-based data analysis, with rigorous attention to uncertainty and statistics.
