We are seeking an individual who is deeply passionate about UP and the Customer Tech Domain, and who has demonstrated a strong eagerness to step into the role of a Technical Architect. You will become part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing technical leadership responsible for creating technical solutions that enhance Customer experience with the tools we provide.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, well-organized, and possess excellent skills in technical decision-making and problem-solving. They should be capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships, as collaboration will be essential with their team, other areas of the Tech Department, and business partners. Due to training and project commitments, the successful candidate is expected to remain in their current assignment or area for at least 24 months before exploring other internal opportunities. This role will report to Kalyan Revadi.

**Accountabilities**
- -------------------

* Comprehensive technical understanding of the entire Customer Tech product line, including all services and event handlers, business rules implementations, storage technologies, system integrations, and the administrative tools that support these components.

* Responsible for establishing development standards, including code quality, conducting code reviews, ensuring precise story estimation, and maintaining disciplined deployment practices

* Mentor, lead, and actively contribute to the technical development of junior developers, fostering future technical leaders

* Designing, leading, and executing highly critical and visible projects, inclusive of preparing materials for presentations to senior leadership and delivering these presentations clearly and concisely

* Strong emphasis on delivery and close collaboration with Product Managers, Business Analysts/Scrum Masters, and Developers to ensure successful project delivery. Entails planning for success, tracking progress, providing accurate estimates, advocating for necessary resources, and adapting to shifting priorities, obstacles, and scope changes

* Product mindset, focusing on maintaining effective relationships with both Tech and Business partners to support the enterprise's objectives

**Qualifications - Required**
- ----------------------------

* A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related area
* At least 8 years experience in software/systems development or a similar field
* At least 6 years of experience in core application development, SOA architecture, and schema design
* At least 6 years of Java development experience, including J2EE, Angular, Spring, Hibernate, Coherence, and microservices
* Strong data handling abilities with MS Excel, SQL, and PL/SQL programming
* Proven experience in leading and executing complex software projects
* Experience in mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, creating and refining backlogs, leading development efforts, and participating in system design
* Exceptional problem-solving skills
* Strong communication skills

* Experience successfully providing technical leadership across multiple applications within a domain
* Experience leveraging lean, agile, and design-based development methodologies to lower risk, deliver value, and ensure rapid user feedback via iteration

This position is eligible for participation in the Union Pacific Annual Compensation Program.
