Software Engineer, Staff: Applied AI, Science & Engineering

Job Description

Build and harden agent harnesses, research workflows, scientific tool integrations, and evaluations that enable Claude to perform verifiable science and engineering work. Work directly with partner experts to define problems, prototype and deploy solutions, create reusable tools and processes, and communicate model performance and limitations to internal teams and stakeholders.

Requirements: Requires 8 or more years of software engineering experience, experience building systems with large language models, and the ability to work directly with expert users to turn open-ended problems into verifiable tasks. Relevant science or engineering experience, strong engineering fundamentals, zero-to-one delivery experience, sound judgment, and clear communication are important; a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
