Software Engineer, Staff: Applied AI, Science & Engineering

Job Description

Build and harden agent harnesses, research workflows, scientific tool integrations, and evaluations that enable Claude to perform verifiable science and engineering work. Work directly with partner experts to define problems, prototype and deploy solutions, create reusable tools and processes, and communicate model performance and limitations to internal teams and stakeholders.

Requirements: Requires 8+ years of software-building experience, strong engineering fundamentals across the stack, experience building systems with large language models, and the ability to work effectively with expert users. Relevant science or engineering experience, zero-to-one delivery experience, sound judgment about verification, and clear communication are important; a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
