Job Title Chief Engineer Department Engineering Reports To General Manager FLSA Status Exempt SUMMARY The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of all physical aspects of the hotel condo building and grounds The Chief Engineer will develop and implement a maintenance program that is cost effective efficient and meets the needs of the buildings guests and staff Develops and monitors the budget forecasts payroll and legal aspects of the building concerning the engineering \& facilities RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a team of professionals setting objectives standards guidelines policies and procedures Ensures schedules of the team meet the needs of the building and are within budget guidelinesOversee the physical aspects of the hotel including the building equipment and groundsDevelop and implement a comprehensive preventative and ongoing maintenance program for all facilities including lists of all equipmentRespond to all maintenance requests in a timely fashion and ensure that all work is completed to a high standardMonitor and maintain the hotels HVAC plumbing mechanical electrical kitchen equipment life safety laundry and security systems to ensure they are functioning correctlyManage outside contractors and vendors for specialized services such as landscaping or pest control Responsible for negotiating all contractsImplement and maintain an energy management program to reduce utility costs and promote sustainabilityEnsure compliance with all safety and health regulations and maintain records of all inspections and repairsDevelop and manage the annual budget for the Facilities departmentDevelop a sustainability program with the internal team and external vendorsProvide regular reports to General Manager on the status of all facilitiesEnsures all related permits testing and legal documents are kept up to dateAdministrative duties for the department include but are not limited to payroll onboarding hiring scheduling PTO approval ordering supplies maintaining records etc QUALIFICATIONS 5 7 years of experience in a FacilitiesEngineering Director or similar role for a hotel or condo facility with at least 400 unitsStrong leadership skills including the ability to manage a team and outside contractorsKnowledge of HVAC mechanical plumbing electrical kitchen equipment laundry life safety and security systemsAbility to develop and manage a budgetPre opening experience preferred Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekendsStrong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office EDUCATION Bachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering or a related field preferred LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish preferred REASONING ABILITY Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions Such as prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer; Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions This job is primarily performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to frequently inspect inside and outside areas of the property location and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud We are an EEO Company that provides a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to all full time regular Employees The above job description describes the primary duties and qualifications for this position The hotel reserves the right to modify add or remove duties other duties as necessary This candidate for this position is an at will employee and subject to termination with or without cause or notice
