Roles & Responsibilities:
The Chief Engineer will overseeing the entire Marine engineering department on the vessel and be responsible for the maintenance and operation of all engineering equipment onboard the vessel. The Chief Engineer must ensure that the engine room is suitable for inspection by coastguard authorities and ensures that there is a surplus of fuel and spare parts. In an emergency the Marine Chief Engineer will assume complete control of the engine room.
Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors.
Outdoor duties may be performed on shore and afloat on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
Requires the ability to work in a seaborne environment with some shift work at remote locations with multiple over-night assignments.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Travel to remote working locations required and routine deployments on support and target vessels may be required, INCONUS and occasional OCONUS for mission support.
Overtime required at times to support operations.
Work Schedule currently is a 9/80 schedule (Mon Thurs 9 hours, alternating Friday, 1 work 8 hrs. 1 off)
- The Chief Engineer shall possess a license as Chief Engineer, unlimited oceans, of any horsepower with a USCG gas turbine endorsement and five (5) years documented experience in that position.
- Five (5) years documented supervisory experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of LM2500 gas turbine engines that has occurred within the last five (5) years.
- Must be Qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch on a commissioned U.S. Warship with a minimum of five (5) years experience in that watch station.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).
Must obtain an U.S. DoD Security Interim Clearance prior to hire date, final clearance must be granted and clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
Must pass pre-employment physical to include: Physical, Drug Screen, Vision & Hearing testing, Medical Condition Certification and back x-ray.
All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation.
