Our client, Innophos, is searching for a Project Manager, in Chicago Heights, IL or Cranbury, NJ.  Innophos is a leading international producer of specialty ingredient solutions that deliver far-reaching, versatile benefits for the food, health, nutrition and industrial markets. They leverage expertise in the science and technology of blending and formulating phosphates, minerals, botanicals, proteins and other nutrition ingredients to help customers offer products that are tasty, healthy, nutritious and economical.


The Project Manager will develop, manage, and implement complex capital projects including the design, field construction and commissioning of new equipment and building installations. Types of project include (but are not limited to) process improvements, safety improvements, energy cost reduction, infrastructure and capacity increase.  The person in this position will also develop complex engineering studies to assess and evaluate strategic manufacturing and business initiatives for the company.


Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:   


*         Develop the scope of work, cost estimate, and schedule for complex capital projects and engineering studies.

*         Prepare funding requests including thorough reviews of EHS and Quality aspects of the project and justifications to support requested investments.

*         Manage approved projects to achieve promised deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.

*         Manage engineering contractors to execute capital projects.

*         Evaluate/select process (and related) equipment and outside contract services.      

*         Review contractor field work monitor safe work practices.           

*         Prepare purchase requisitions, plant work orders, monthly cost /project status reports and other project documentation.

*         Generate ideas and propose projects that will improve the manufacturing and business performance of the company.

*         Provide assistance to troubleshoot problems.

*         Provide start-up assistance on capital projects.


Required Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experiences:

*        Minimum B. S. degree in engineering, preferably chemical or mechanical discipline.

*        At least 15 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industry is a plus.

*        Formal training in project management practices; PMP certification is a plus.

*        Knowledge of business practices and economic justification calculations.

*        Project cost estimating and scheduling ability using Microsoft Project or other similar software.

*        Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and achieve promised deliverables within budget and schedule. 

*        Demonstrated ability to lead a team of individuals from various functional groups to successfully execute strategic company initiatives and achieve promised deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.

*        Knowledge of construction safety requirements and practices.

*        Familiarity with field construction methods.

*        Proficient in using engineering and business-related computer software.

*        Practical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and process equipment.

*        Demonstrated ability and growth potential to progress to a leadership position within the organization.

*        Good verbal/written communication and organizational skills
