Job Description

SalemTech, a division of The Salem Group is working with our client, a local municipality, to add a Senior Civil Engineer to their growing team. The ideal candidate will possess 3-7 years' experience in Civil Engineering, either within the the public sector and/or state/county municipal agencies and bring previous experience leading capital infrastructure projects and possess strong project management skills.  

Job Summary: 

The Senior Civil Engineer must have the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with employees, consultants, other agencies and the general public and must have thorough knowledge of civil engineering principals. Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses the ability to organize project documentation, schedule and conduct meetings, gather, organize and analyze data or information related to the assigned projects, manage preliminary and final design projects, review pay estimates and invoices and development plans for code conformance as well as summarize technical information concisely for public consumption.  

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Construction or Municipal Engineering and at least 5 years' related experience.  Knowledge related to sanitary sewer and water main infrastructure, underground construction or consulting engineering are all pluses, as is an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)/Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Professional Engineer (PE) license from the State of Illinois or equivalent. Candidates must also possess a valid Drivers' License and satisfactory driving record.
