Volt has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to work onsite at our client’s facility located in Waterloo, IA.  Duties will include:

Duties will include:

  • Assist/Support the Ag test lab and Instrumentation Engineering personnel in areas of Instrumentation, Data Acquisition, and Control System.
  • Creating and modifying DAQ and control software solutions for tests
  • This includes the use and selection of a variety of measurement tools, hardware/wiring design, software development, and troubleshooting.  

Work Responsibility Breakdown

  • 40% - Test Cell Troubleshooting - Wiring issues - Data Acquisition and Control (PLC’s, iTest, MTS, Dewesoft) - Sensors (Pressure Transducers, Flowmeters, Accelerometers, etc.) - Support Systems (Dynamometers, Hydraulic Power Units, Servo Controllers)
  • 30% - Documentation - AutoCAD drawings - Test Cell Procedures - Calibration information - Troubleshooting documentation - Asset tracking  
  • 30% - Software development - Create/modify various data acquisition and control software - Software includes (iTest, Dewesoft, MTS, various PLCs)

Education Requirements:

  •  4 year degree in Computer Science, MIS, Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred. 
  • Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering is also acceptable. 
  • Computer programming experience is preferred.
  • Manager is open to recent grad candidates. 


  • A strong candidate will have a general background in the following areas:  
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Experience with measurement and control technologies
    • CAN Communications  
    • Experience with computers systems and functionality such as excel and basic networking  
    • Familiarity with Agricultural equipment and applications  

***This position is located in Waterloo, IA. Candidates must be able to relocate to this location at their own expense.***
