Systems Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical or Biomedical)

Top Skills Required for this role:

  • Requirements Writing, Testing, and Traceability
  • Product Development Experience in a Telecom (such as Motorola) or any Regulated Industry setup (Medical Devices / Military / Aerospace etc, where they have rigid requirements)
  • Nice to have one or all of these (but not required): DOORS, HP ALM, JIRA

Summary:
A successful applicant can contribute to the overall development of new features of medical infusion systems through the definition of system requirements, interface requirements, traceability and system verification. Propose solutions to technical challenges commonly associated with new product development. Coordinating with EE, ME and SW functions within RandD as well as coordinating with Risk Management, Compliance, Reliability, Clinical, Human Factors, Marketing and Regulatory. The applicant must function within a team environment and provide clear feedback to supervisor and team members.

Critical skills and experience include:
Solid technical understanding of gathering and maintaining requirements and traceability.
Solid technical understanding of system verification
Solid understanding of design configuration management
Must be able to provide technical solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
Ability to resolve competing constraints between interrelated functions (Engineering, Risk Management, Compliance, Reliability, Clinical, Human Factors, Regulatory)

Qualifications:
Experience with the development and verification of electronic medical equipment with embedded firmware.
Experience with Medical Device design controls and understanding of Good Document / Manufacturing Practices in the area of design controls, including FDA-21 CFR 820.30 and ISO 9001.
Working understanding of IEC 60601-1, Medical electrical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance
DOORs or ALM experience a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Accountability for deliverables
Self-motivated and committed to deadlines
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Proposes and drives solutions to technical problems
Gives and accepts constructive feedback; takes accountability for own behavior and adjusts appropriately
Fosters creative thinking and teamwork to resolve conflicts

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Software engineering
Minimum of 3-7 years' of recent and relevant experience in new medical device product development; system requirements creation/management; system verification creation/execution
Medical Device industry experience or regulated industry experience strongly preferred

Work environment: mostly office setting, some design lab maybe needed

Interview platform: phone followed by onsite or phone followed by WebEx for non-local candidates
