Key Objectives

To prepare, execute and analyze output of practical experiments, in line with the department, RD&I project and functional standards. As part of a project team contribute to the realization of objectives of innovative or developmental projects.

Applies polymer and surface chemistry knowledge to assist the development of new technology for Surface Chemistry business. Application areas include but not limit to personal care, lube and fuel, petroleum, agro, mining, and cleaning, etc.

Develop methodology and conduct measurement of key material structures and properties, which are relevant to the end-use performance, for new materials. Make model formulations to test the performance of new material and compare with benchmarks.

Functional Responsibilities/Network

•Maintains and promotes a safe work environment, complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety, in both the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean, orderly working environment.
•Conducts a significant level of formulation and technical work in the lab as defined in the project plan, guides technicians in executing experiments.
•Documents lab results through appropriate means including laboratory notebooks, interim and full reports, project meeting minutes, and monthly summaries. When visiting customers, writes reports with corresponding action items.
•Spends significant time in the lab. Asks appropriate questions to clarify requirements, expectations and critical performance parameters.
•Is familiar with characterization techniques, e.g. mechanical and chemical techniques.
•Conduct routine maintenance and calibration for instruments in the Material Science Lab.
•Become an expert in the areas of property measurements as well as certain applications, and presents analysis and reports.

Performance Qualities:

The candidate must have good communication skills, both oral and written. The ability to excel in a team environment is desired.
Knowledge of physical chemistry and polymer science is preferred. Work experience in the application of surfactants and polymers to specific performance problems is a plus.
The candidate must possess a motivated personality and be able to work with minimal supervision. Candidate can effectively interact with various functions within department to fulfill his/her activities.

Requirements
Master's Degree in chemistry / chemical technology or Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry / chemical technology with 2 to 3 years of experience. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
