Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Laboratory Chemist to join our team at the headquarters office in Moon Township, PA..

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Responsible for the analysis of spent carbon samples for verification of waste acceptance criteria and to ensure permit compliance with Calgon Carbon's environmental permits and standard QA/QC procedures
  • Prepare analytical reports and certifies to accuracy of data
  • Review and modify permitted test methods or other required documents as needed
  • Ensure sample hold times and preservation requirements are met and chain-of-custody procedures are followed
  • Assist customers with environmental regulatory questions and paperwork completion
  • Be able to review technical data and issue formal reactivation projects and submit required regulatory notifications to the appropriate governmental agency
  • Responsible for laboratory chemical waste disposal program and managing spent carbon sample kit replenishment process
  • Must institutionalize “Health and Safety” as number one goal to promote accident free workplace by following established lab safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in all required safety training programs, provide necessary safety training and conduct all work in a safe manner at all times


  • Required Experience:
    • A Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university (Environmental Science or Chemistry concentration)
    • 3-5 years of Environmental laboratory experience
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Laboratory experience
    • Knowledge of RCRA Hazardous Waste, Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), federal, state and local rules and regulations
