Description

Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager who will be responsible to lead the Engineering staff supporting the chemical manufacturing operation under the direction of the Plant Manager driving continuous improvement and productivity activities, addition of new capabilities and for maintaining the Process Safety Management Program (PSM). The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide leadership and vision to the engineering staff, mentoring and developing the talent
  • Member of the site management team responsible for the technical aspects of plant operations, ensuring equipment is suitable for the task and able to control the plant within a safe operating window
  • Responsible for the health of the site's OSHA Process Safety Management Program (PSM) to include control of management of change, overseeing the HAZOP process, P&IDs, and interlock strategy
  • Leads the continuous improvement activities on site optimizing raw material utilizations, cycle time improvements, and increase the site's ability to generate products within specification
  • Propose, cost, install and commission new equipment solutions adding to the site's efficiency and productivity, and also adding new capabilities as required to serve the market needs and support new product introductions
  • Coordinate efforts with other departments as needed to troubleshoot production problems, determine root causes, and drive implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop cooperative culture between sister sites to support technology transfer, sharing of lessons learned and introduction of new products
  • Support the development of the operations work force with training, creation of documents and procedures, configuration of the Distributive Control Systems (DCS)
  • Ensure the engineering department is in compliance with all company policies and procedures, regulations and corporate guidelines on business ethics

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or similar field
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations
  • Competent on standard computer programs such as Microsoft Office, SAP experience highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and environmental regulations as applied to a chemical production facility, as well as the incident command system
  • Knowledge of factory costing models, budgets, and cost control
  • Experience with capital project costing and project execution
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization
