The Home Building Group is actively searching for a Materials Manager to join the team at our Wakarusa, IN facility.

General Expectations:

The Material Manager isresponsible for material management, vendor management, process management, andcost management at the Home Building Facility. This requires working collaboratively with other departments at thefacility including Engineering, Production, Service, and Sales, as well as,working with suppliers.  The MaterialManager reports directly to the General Manager of the HBF with a dotted linereport into the corporate VP of Procurement.  

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, & develop the department
  • Work and communicate collaboratively with the rest of the facility leadership team & corporate
  • Facilitate a culture that is focused on team member experience, customer experience, & leadership
  • Count and order materials to meet the HBF production requirements
  • Avoid/Minimize material shortages
  • Maintain the least amount of material in inventory required to meet production needs
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and minimize inventory variances
  • Operate and order within the defined supply terms (lead time, minimum order quantity, delivery…)
  • Review backorders and address with suppliers
  • Review & collaborate on sales orders & production schedules to proactively address material needs & restraints
  • Comply with all corporate contracts & SOPs
  • Lead and reconcile quarterly physical inventory counts
  • Implement and abide by corporate policies and procedures
  • Performance of category deep dives to improve inventory turns and reduce shortages
  • Complete performance reviews for department
  • Work with suppliers and other departments to eliminate waste & improve efficiency
  • Hold suppliers accountable to terms and performance standards
  • Vendor management and communication
  • Manage the Issue Resolution process

Through collaboration with otherdepartments, ensure that:

  • Proper receipt & storage of inventory
  • Proper capture of pricing, terms, & incentives (such as cash discounts & rebates)
  • Timely payment to suppliers
  • Proper rotation of inventory (and FIFO)
  • Management and accounting for Damaged, Slow Moving, & Obsolete Material
  • Management and accounting for scrap materials and scrap material sales
  • Management and accounting for employee purchases
  • An efficient facility layout
  • Data integrity & maintenance (including models, options, BOMs, and parts)

Education and Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Supply Chain operations, Industrial Engineering, or similar
  • 3 year’s leadership experience in Materials Management and/or Supply Chain management
  • Manufacturing Materials Management experience, preferred.
  • Contract Management experience
  • Vendor Management experience
