Tetra Tech is currently accepting expressions of interest for Entry Level Cost Estimator candidates for our office in Richland, Washington. Some short-term travel may be required from time to time. This is an entry level position and training will be provided.
Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals and other project related documents to prepare time, cost and labor estimates.
Perform constructability reviews and develop draft project schedules as needed.
Perform quantity take offs; develop rates under direction of senior estimators; obtain vendor quotes on labor, materials and equipment.
Prepare cost estimates utilizing estimating software system.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates figures.
Communicate with architects, and disciple engineers to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications.
Actively participate in the internal quality control review process.
Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation to customer.
After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future reference.
Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred;
0-3 years of experience required, this can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience.
General knowledge of construction methods and practices;
Familiarity with cost estimating software (MCASES MII, PACES, On Screen Takeoff etc.) is a plus;
Experience with mechanical, electrical and plumping systems is preferred.
Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred;
Exposure to knowledge of project scheduling principals and software;
Understanding of the use of a work breakdown structure;
Estimator should be able to take direction from senior estimator and perform task assigned utilizing independent judgement;
Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance preferred.
