CIVIL & ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICE
Michael Baker International’s civil engineering professionals manage and staff active projects in over 40 countries on five continents. Services are provided for a broad range of projects and capabilities, including highways, airports, bridges, rail and transit systems, government and commercial facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, oil and gas infrastructure, and commercial/urban development. Our fields of expertise span all areas of civil engineering and include an extensive variety of specialty disciplines, such as environmental compliance and restoration, coastal engineering, urban development, and mining.
 
DESCRIPTION
A Civil & Environmental Engineering Associate is responsible for the execution of the technical aspects of a project within established schedule and budget constraints. The position requires excellent communication, organizational, and detailed document management and tracking skills. Technical responsibilities will include conducting ArcGIS mapping, NEPA environmental site assessments, preparing, tracking and submitting agency coordination, red flag investigations, programmatic and categorical exclusions, permits, public hearings, and coordination of supporting technical reports.  Wetland delineation training and HAZWOPER training a plus.  The position will be reporting out of the Louisville, KY office.
 

  • Support multifaceted, interdisciplinary transportation NEPA work
  • Assistant project managers and task managers with various tasks including fieldwork, data collection, report development and document delivery
  • Conduct technical research and analysis related to various disciplines using mapping and modeling tools
  • Report development and document management, including managing comments and responses and multiple version control
  • Electronic file management, generating meeting notes and executing follow-up items
  • General project communication including group e-mails, meeting coordination, calendar management and scheduling
  • Research, general fieldwork and data collection
 
 
 
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Possess an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification
  • 2-4+ years of increasingly-responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water, wastewater and stormwater facilities
  • Be self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting the Environmental Group.
  • Have excellent technical writing and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil-3D, H&H Modeling and MicroStation a plus
