Who are we looking for?

Qualifications/Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering


At least 8 years' of work experience in a water quality/analysis laboratory environment


At least 5 years' work experience managing and leading teams

Skills and Abilities


Master's Degree in Engineering or technical field, preferred


Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, customers, and employees


Advanced verbal communication skills, including group presentation


Ability to prepare complex written reports and other documents


Familiar with complex analytical Instrumentation and electromechanical systems


Understanding of the chemical compatibility of various materials


Knowledge of water chemistry and experience with standard methods for measuring contaminants in a water matrix.


Knowledge of water purification methods and systems utilized in pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries.


Possess mechanical/electrical aptitude to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment and analytical instrumentation.


Hands on laboratory skills.


What will you be doing?

The Engineering Manager for the Analytical Instruments product line business is responsible for providing leadership and supervision of a team of Bio/Chemical Engineers to achieve objectives of output and quality, and to ensure compliance with company policies. The Manager will plan team strategies and team development, as well as serve as the final authority for decision making within the team.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities


Oversee multiple projects and engineering staff to ensure project timing is maintained.


Allocate resources as necessary to ensure success for all business requirements (cost, timing, quality, etc.)


Develop resource plans and ensure that the organization has sufficient time to react to insufficient resources


Ensure that team members have all the necessary equipment, tools, and support to perform tasks successfully, developing a strategy to ensure success


Ensure developed plans are followed and maintained until completion


Manage interface between the Bio/Chemical Engineering team and other departments/teams (Engineering, Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, etc.) in the company to ensure smooth and effective relationships


Identify training needed by the team and the priority it will be conducted; ensure training effectiveness


Recognize problems early before they constrain project teams


Make decisions with little or no support and ensure correct result for project team and company


Make technical decisions when team cannot reach agreement


Serve as a professional example for others to follow by being diplomatic and able to communicate effectively within the business


Ensure proper implementation of company policies and procedures


Track and maintain all project hours spent by the engineering team


Track and develop performance goals and measures for the team and communicate regularly the status


Objectively evaluate team performance and develop resources through the performance management process


Maintain complete software/firmware theory knowledge; learn new theory when the business or customer requires


Have complete understanding of software/firmware specifications for multiple customers. Be capable of supporting testing and offer solutions to identified problems.
