Function as primary administrative contact for executive leadership on Biomedical applications, systems, and technologies. Direct activities of the Biomedical Engineering Department in the selection, procurement, and delivery of biomedical equipment and services. Ensure all program elements are designed and implemented to comply with Joint Commission and other regulatory and inspection agency requirements, guidelines, and standards. Develop annual goals and objectives related to supporting the growth and development of the Biomedical Engineering Department in response to present and future needs. Develop and manages annual and strategic operating and capital budgets of the Biomedical Engineering Department and the biomedical facets of WellStar clinical cost centers.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelors’ degree required. Area of preferred study/concentration: Biomed engineering or other technical discipline.
Required Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years in medical or technical equipment operations and maintenance management; An additional five (5) years management of a hospital Biomedical Engineering program. Multi-hospital system management experience is mandatory. Demonstrated leadership roles in cross disciplinary projects and activities within healthcare facilities. Experience analyzing and negotiating manufacturer and vendor agreements for devices and service.
Required Minimum Skills: Certification as a Biomedical Engineering Technician or certifiable. A+, Net+, CCNA or other IT certifications preferred. Significant experience in supporting networked medical devices and systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Capable of interpreting building architectural and systems drawings and information. Able to compose and deliver presentations regarding medical devices and systems to clinical and administrative groups.
