Building and Construction Systems, abusiness unit of Arconic, is the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminumproducts and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is partof Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit,which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in NorthAmerica, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Wehave an immediate need for an Application/Project Engineer II for our officelocated in Springdale Arkansas.  Underthe direction of the Engineering Manager the Application/Project Engineer IIwill work with external customers and architects and internal sales, front-end,architectural services and product development teams to provide relevant andtimely technical solutions.  


Primary Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Workswith the Project Estimator, analyze incoming quotation requests primarily fromarchitectural plans and specifications or with Technical Services primarilyfrom shop drawings and architectural plans to apply the appropriate Kawneerproducts to the project with respect to air, water, thermal, sound andstructural performance design criteria given, including hurricane impact, blastand seismic, as required, as well as meet all Federal/State/Local buildingcodes.  Will perform this work incoordination with the appropriate end user to meet the needs of our customer;

  • Locateall elevations of architectural aluminum framing and aluminum entrances fromarchitectural plans and specifications, including how and where they anchorback to the building structure;

  • Utilizeproject structural drawings, determine design criteria for the externalcladding of the project.and confirm points of anchorage for framing systems andentrances to steel structural elements;

  • Developwind loads to be applied to framing systems and entrances from design criteriatypically given in structural drawings and project specifications;

  • Performbasic structural analysis when analyzing projects in for bid with respect tothe particular product being used using commercial software like C-Beam, andother in-house tools;

  • Designany non-standard system anchorage components required or confirm standardsystem anchorage performs to the project design criteria;

  • Provideconceptual custom or modified standard product designs/details to meet designcriteria on projects, when required;

  • Workbased on a schedule with deadlines with multiple projects at any given time;

  • Conveyto the end user all product application information specific to the projectbeing evaluated both with mark-ups on the architectural/shop drawings, and inwritten form;

  • Workwith customers, sales and architects/contractors to provide design solutionsusing existing and custom products;

  • Coordinateblast application needs with blast engineering consulting firms.

  • External:Architects, Customers and outside vendors.

  • Internal:Internal sales, front-end, architectural services and product developmentteams.



  • Minimum4 year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required;

  • 1-2years Project Engineering experience – working with drafters developing shopdrawings;

  • Employeesmust be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification ofemployment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visasponsorship is not available for this position. 


  • 1-3years Fenestration Industry experience;

  • Civilor Mechanical Engineering Degree;

  • Basicunderstanding of Kawneer products either from experience gained within theindustry or previous employment with Kawneer;

  • Proficientat reading and interpreting Architectural Plans and Specifications.
