Job Description

SR Mechanical Engineer

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to proposals and projects. The main job responsibilities include:
●Design of remote tools and systems for hazardous environments using 3D (SolidWorks) modeling tools
●Analysis of component sizing including drive components, motors, bearings etc
●Preliminary analysis of mechanical/structural systems, including Finite Element analysis of stress/strain
●Interface with instrumentation and controls engineers
●Develop design documents including reports, client emails/status, project deliverables
●Support reviews and comment incorporation of designs
●Develop manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards
●Construct and oversee outside venders in construction of developed systems
●Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
●Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is required to possess proficiency in computer applications, specifically 3D CAD drafting software (SolidWorks is preferred). They must also have an ability to effectively communicate with various technical and managerial professionals, and they must have flexible personalities particularly suited for working in a constantly changing work environment.

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer must be comfortable with managing multiple tasks, taking direction from 2 or more project managers, and leading complex tasks by directing others.


Education & Certifications:
●BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
●EIT or PE preferred
Experience & Requirements:
●5 years of experience in related engineering field
●Nuclear experience is preferred
●Experience with remotely-controlled equipment is preferred
●Proficiency with 3D CAD products is required (SolidWorks preferred)
●Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required
●Familiarity with the Google environment (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.) is preferred
●Must have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent computer skills that are relevant to job applications.
