Job Description – Summary:
The Health Informaticist will help in research, design, program, testing, install and maintain assigned programs and systems. Using evidence-based practice, the Health Informaticist contributes to patient safety by developing clinical protocols, documentation templates, and decision support rules in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians.
Top Required Skills:
- Certifications in any one of these reporting modules: Epic Cogito, Clarity, Radar, Reporting Workbench
- Prior work experience in a clinical environment
- Licensed Registered Nurse. Licensure in the State of Texas
- Prior work experience in a nursing environment
- 1 or more years of experience in implementing or supporting electronic health record applications
Understands and is able to articulate user needs and problems and determines the feasibility of solutions. Uses clinical knowledge and hospital experience to assist in supporting clinical applications. Maybe called upon as a technical resource for other project teams. Provides on-call support to our campuses (MDMC, MCMC, MMMC, MRMC, MCCC, and MRCC) during non-business hours.
Demonstrates ability to manage many jobs at one time, balancing priorities, deadlines and time. The work is highly technical and the incumbent is often required to work independently. Demonstrates ability to personally complete all aspects of a project in a reliable, accurate and timely manner.
Develops design specifications, and implementation schedule for application changes.
Assesses, plans, designs, implements and evaluates clinical workflow and business processes to define technology needs.
Performs or ensures system maintenance and testing is complete for requested changes, and for all updates/new releases for all assigned applications.
Communicates with senior informaticists, other informaticists and leadership and users to develop system requirements and solutions. Logs, tracks, and resolves problems related to application system with system vendors.
Maintains current detailed system documentation for assigned applications.
Continually assesses education needs of end users in relation to technology solutions. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education for staff. If in training specific role, credentials clinical trainers.
Works collaboratively with team members and informs leadership of all events pertaining to the operations of assigned applications and projects.
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare informatics, nursing, or other related fields. Equivalent work experience can replace the educational requirement.
Graduate from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A high level of analytical ability is required.
- Very strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clinicians and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of change management principles and teamwork.
- Maintains a professional approach in all situations
