Job Description


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:


  • Support special projects such as capacity improvements, defect reduction, and plant layout

  • Work with Mechanical and Electrical teams, and Software engineers to design and integrate production hardware and software.

  • Design, validate, and execute appropriate test methods to address system design and performance issues.

  • Lead problem-solving activities and provide engineering support for process development and initiatives to improve the efficiency of operations

  • Knowledge of standard concepts with PLC, HMI, VFD, and interface development.

  • Facilitate complex problem solving skills, enhanced collaboration across functional groups, and support development efforts for current manufacturing hardware and new system development.

  • Provide heightened support to Maintenance personnel on system outages.

  • The position entails rigorous process discipline and documentation practices as well as excellent cross-functional communication skills to assure functionality, safety, reliability and quality of the product.

  • Electrical design - making and redesign of electrical prints Create and modify code through PLC using ladder logic and structured text

  • Design, program, and commission custom automation solutions

  • Troubleshoot systems through HMI, PLC, and computer systems

  • Standardize work processes and systems per the Smart Chicken procedures

  • Design, validation, and execution of test methods to ensure hardware, software, and system meet performance specifications

  • Able to travel between multiple vicinities between Tecumseh and Waverly, NE.

QUALIFICATIONS:


 


Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or education.

  • 1 to 2 years of direct related experience

  • Working knowledge of the following: Electrical design (SolidWorks preferred), Digital electronics and Analog Electronics

  • Ability and desire to learn new programming environments, willing to step out of comfort zone

     

     

    Communication Skills:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated technical writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, and works well with others.

  • Strong proficiency in the use of MS Office Products (e.g. Excel, Word, and Outlook).


  • Should demonstrate a strong interest in cross-functional project work.


 


Other Skills:


  • Experience programing HMIs through Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform

  • Programming Omron PLCs

  • MQTT communication protocol experience
